The Carleton Ravens women's hockey team will play their final regular season game of their RSEQ era on Friday night when they travel to McGill.
After narrowly missing the playoffs, the 7-15-1 Ravens look to close out their time in the Quebec conference with a win over the Martlets. The Ravens have been able to turn fortune under head coach Stacey Colarossi the past two seasons.
The Ravens had one win against McGill in their last 17 games before the new era began in the fall of 2022. Since then, Carleton is 6-2-1 including 3-1 at the historic McConnel Arena. Carleton also has the chance to win three times at McConnell in a season, a feat that would have been unimaginable during the team's 41-game losing streak to the Martlets from the early 2000s through 2011.
The transition is even more noticeable when you consider that an eighth win on the year would set a high-water mark for Carleton in the past decade, and would fall just one short of the team's nine-win season in 2011-2012.
It's been a low-scoring season series with Carleton leading 5-3. Goaltending has been the story, not the lack of offence, as both teams have posted impressive numbers. Carleton's Caitlin Whitehead enters Friday's contest sporting a 0.975% in the season series. Jade Rivard-Coulombe has been impressive on her end as well, starting three of four against the Ravens Rivard-Coulombe has allowed one goal on 63 shots while picking up two victories.
Graduating forward Cecilia Lopez leads the season series in scoring with two goals, a pair she collected in the only high-scoring game of the series, a 4-1 win for Carleton at McConnell back in November.
