OTTAWA (Mar. 27, 2024) - The Carleton Ravens have announced the 2024 Female Athlete of the Year award nominees.
Chosen from all student-athletes who have represented Carleton University in inter-university competitions. The major criterion is the demonstration of outstanding athletic ability during the current year in Carleton's interuniversity program. In addition, contributions towards the athletic program at Carleton are considered for this award.
The MVP of the U SPORTS Final 8 Tournament, Kali Pocrnic was a star for the women's basketball team. A Second Team All-Canadian, Pocrnic was named OUA MVP and Critelli Cup MVP while also earning U SPORTS Player of the Week and OUA Athlete of the Week twice. Pocrnic also broke seven Ravens program records during the season.
In her first year with Carleton, Caitlin Whitehead was fantastic, putting together sparkling numbers while earning RSEQ Second Team All-Star. The Ottawa product set program records for shots faced and saved in a season, and games played, while tieing the program record for shutouts.
Winner of individual gold and silver medals at the OUA Championship. Maggie McClure helped lead the Carleton Ravens to gold in the relay and the team title at the 2024 OUA Championships. The OUA Champion was also named OUA Athlete of the Year.
A Second Team RSEQ All-Star, Anna Norman was a force for women's rugby. The attacking forward was named game MVP in two of six contests while adding one try.
