OTTAWA (Mar. 25, 2024) - Ahead of Thursday's Varsity Banquet the Carleton Ravens have announced the nominees for the Graduating Female Athlete of the Year award.
The award is presented annually to a female student-athlete who, through activity in Athletics, has exhibited throughout their career at Carleton University, a high and progressive standard of performance, participation and attitude, with emphasis placed on performance.
In four years at Carleton, Pocrnic is a two-time U SPORTS National Champion and OUA Champion, twice named U SPORTS Final 8 MVP, Kali Pocrnic has been the motor for Ravens basketball. After starting her career as an OUA All-Rookie in 2020, Pocrnic is the reigning 2023 Ruth Coe Award winner as Carleton's female athlete of the year.
In six years at Carleton, Beard is the Ravens' team captain and a three-time Academic All-Canadian. Capping off her time with the Ravens with a career-high in points, Beard led the Ravens charge which saw them come one day short of making the RSEQ playoffs.
In six years at Carleton, McClure is a five-time OUA All-Star and six-time OUA Champion. McClure capped off her career by helping the Ravens capture the 2024 CCUNC National Championship. The four-time Academic All-Canadian has captured five individual and three team relay medals in her time in the OUA.
In five years with the Ravens, Chiappetta is a two-time RSEQ bronze medalist and 2021-22 Ruth Coe Award winner. Chiappetta's time with Carleton saw her finish second all-time in points before joining the National Development Team. Following an impressive 2022 campaign, Chiappetta was selected to join the NDT at the RBC Training Ground combine.
