The Carleton Ravens are off to the U SPORTS Championship game following a decisive 74-40 win over the Queen's Gaels. In a rematch of the 2023 U SPORTS championship game, Kali Pocrnic continued to demonstrate her MVP form, scoring 22 points in under 20 minutes of playing time.
The Ravens pulled away from the Gaels after an even opening five minutes outscoring Queen's 11 to 5 in the latter half of the first quarter to build their lead. Kali Pocrnic continued to thrill the crowds at the Saville Centre scoring 7 points in the opening quarter while adding an assist and a steal.
Kyana-Jade Poulin and Tatyanna Burke each scored 6, of her 12, in the second quarter as the Ravens stretched their lead to 19 at the half. Similar to a week ago at Carleton, the Gaels battled in the latter part of the quarter and seemed to be rebuilding some momentum entering the half.
In the third quarter, it was all Carleton in the opening five minutes as Kali Pornic scored 10 points and Carleton pulled ahead by thirty in the quarter on the back of a 26-2 opening five minutes. Kyana-Jade Pulin added four points in the third while Zerina Duvnjak quickly had 6 rebounds through the opening thirty minutes.
With both teams struggling with fouls in the third quarter Carleton relied on their bench to hold the lead as Oceanne Kounkou and Teresa Donato played heavy minutes as neither team could make generate much momentum scoring only 2 points each in the opening 5:15 of the quarter.
Kyana-Jade Poulin was named Player of the Game for the Ravens. The Montreal guard had 12 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals with a game-high +36 differential.
