OTTAWA (Mar. 22, 2024) - Ahead of next week's Varsity Banquet, Carleton Athletics is pleased to announce the Male Rookie of the Year nominees.
Being presented for the first time, the Male Rookie of the Year award is presented to the student-athlete displaying the highest level of athletic ability during their first year of eligibility in Carleton's inter-university program.
A true freshman, Kaden Boomer made an immediate impact for the Ravens joining a strong defensive line. Boomer appeared in 8 games for the Ravens recording 2.5 tackles, 1 solo and 3 assisted, and 1 sack.
Jacob's impact was immediately noticeable on the Ravens rowing team. Despite being a first-year student, his experience on the water made him an invaluable member of the men's team rowing in both the four and eight.
The lightning-fast Amadou Kone appeared in all 12 games for the Ravens starting 8. The first-year forward scored one goal and added two assists in the regular season before in appearing in all five of the Ravens playoff games. Kone was selected 16th overall by Forge FC in the CPL Draft.
Nolan Seed jumped straight into the men's hockey roster scoring 17 points in 28 games. An OUA All-Rookie, Seed led all first-year players in the OUA with 8 power play assists.
Winner of the Dr. Peter Mullins Trophy as U SPORTS rookie of the year, Xavier Spencer joined Lloyd Pandi and Philip Scrubb as the third Ravens player to earn the national honour. Spencer led all rookies nationally in points, field goals, free throws, and assists.
After helping the Ravens to their second consecutive OUA Silver Medal, OUA All-Star Kaeden Ward earned two top-fifteen finishes at the OUA Championships including an 8th-place finish in the men's 15KM distance race.
