OTTAWA (Mar. 26, 2024) - Two days out from the 2024 Varsity Banquet, the Carleton Ravens have announced that Dani Sinclair, Kevin Shields and Marcelo Plada have been nominated for the Pat O'Brien Award as coach of the year.
Head coach of the back-to-back U SPORTS and OUA champion women's basketball program. Sinclair led her team to a 21-1 regular season record and a 6-0 run through the OUA and U SPORTS playoffs. The OUA coach of the year, Sinclair's Ravens were the top-ranked team in U SPORTS for 8 of 12 rankings.
Head coach of the CCUNC and OUA Champion women's Nordic skiing team, Shields earned his second consecutive OUA Women's Coach of the Year award in 2024. Shield's women's team claimed seven of eight possible medals at the OUAs while the men also captured a silver medal.
In his first year with the Ravens, head coach Marcelo Plada led the men's soccer team to the U SPORTS championship tournament after capturing the OUA Championship at TAAG Park. With a 10-1-1 regular season, the Ravens led the OUA into the playoffs before winning three straight games to capture the Blackwood.
