OTTAWA (April 29, 2024) - Ravens men's soccer head coach Marcelo Plada has been busy in his first off-season with the club, rebuilding after a strong graduating class helped lead the Ravens to the U SPORTS Championship tournament last season.
The defending OUA champions will have work to do if they want to compete for the top of the league again, but coach Plada believes the group of midfielders announced on Monday are a first step towards continuing the programs success.
"We're bringing in guys that we think can fit the culture right," explained the OUA East coach of the year. "We went heavy, not only to find guys that would fit our system but our culture."
Marcelo believes the quality of player taking the pitch in September will be consistent with what supporters have come to expect. "They're very similar to the characteristics this team had. They have passion, they're hardworking and a 'go win mentality'. This recruiting class will be very dynamic and very diversified.
Monday, the Ravens announced four exciting midfielders who will be joining the club for the 2024-25 season. "These players are dynamic, fast and technically sound," explained coach Plada. Continuing on to say he believes these players can grow alongside the Ravens strong returning core to continue to the program's trajectory.
"Not only are they coming in to compete for spots," he explained, "they're just going to further compliment what's already been created with the depth that we already have."
