WHKY | Ravens Hiring Assistant Coach(April 22, 2024) - The Carleton Ravens women's hockey team is now hiring a full-time assistant coach. The Assistant Coach will act in support of and in accordance with the outlined direction and initiatives of the Department of Athletics & Recreation and Carleton University as they relate to the educational objectives of athletics, equity, fundraising, community relations, budget management and appropriate administrative responsibilities.Job Description:Reporting to the Head Coach, Women’s Hockey, the Assistant Coach will be expected to contribute to the culture of educationally focused and healthy high-performance sport at Carleton University. The Assistant Coach will mentor and teach student-athletes to ensure continuous growth and improvement; and support student-athletes in their personal, academic and athletic development at Carleton University.Key roles and responsibilities of the position include:

Coaching responsibilities as assigned by Head Coach

Assists with the organization, planning and implementation of effective and efficient practices and skills sessions

Assists the head coach in all aspects of team training and individual skill development of student-athletes year-round, including the independent development and implementation of training and competition plans to ensure individual and team improvement.

Leads the recruitment process (under the direction of the head coach). Develop scouting schedule, travel to assess talent, communicate with prospects and parents/guardians, and schedule campus visits.

Support the Head Coach in devising game plans, strategies, tactics, scouting opposing teams and administration

Assist with and manage community engagement programs such as summer camps and alumnae events

Work to build strategic relationships with hockey groups in the community to foster relationships, build networks, increase visibility, increase awareness, act as a resource, enhance community engagement, build loyalty and position the incumbent and Carleton as a hockey leader

Edit video through designated software

Travel to prospective games/ events as a team representative

Foster and maintain a team culture that demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion as well as trust, mutual respect, and belonging

Other duties as assigned by Head Coach

Qualifications:• Minimum of five years of experience in women’s hockey as a player, coach and/or administrator
• Willing to obtain National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Level 1/ HP1 certifications
