Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario (May 14, 2024) - The Carleton Ravens women's basketball team continues to fill up the trophy case, earning the title of OUA Women's Team of the Year on Tuesday night. Celebrated along with the team was head coach Dani Sinclair who earned Coach of the Year and Ravens Association Vice-President Jennifer Brenning who earned the J.P. Loosemore Award.
Continuing their historic run, the women's team is the first to ever go back-to-back as OUA Team of the Year. After completing the repeat as both OUA and U SPORTS Champions, the Ravens third title in five seasons, and the 20th in Carleton basketball history, the Ravens run has truly cemented their place in OUA lore.
Coach Sinclair's award as OUA Women's Coach of the Year is her first and the second in program history. The OUA women's basketball coach of the year, Sinclair led her team to their second consecutive OUA championship in just her third season on the Ravens sideline. She becomes just the first female Ravens coach to earn the honour and the fourth different representative of Carleton to claim the award joining Dave Smart, Sandie Mackie and Taffe Charles.
Retiring late this spring, the OUA presented Jennifer Brenning with the J.P. Loosemore Award honouring her for exemplifying the best in university sport in terms of ethics, integrity, and honesty. The award based on administrative contribution to university sport acknowledged Jennifer's storied career which has spanned over three decades including 19 years at Carleton University following stints with U SPORTS (CIAU) and the University of Ottawa.
