OTTAWA (May 8, 2024) - Carleton Ravens rugby player Vanessa Chiappetta is among the 12 players who will represent Canada at the 2024 FISU World University Championship.
Chiappetta's varsity career ended mid-season when she was called to join the Rugby Canada National Development program. Chiappetta finished with 145 over four seasons, leading the team in scoring in 2021 and 2022. In two games in 2023, Vanessa scored 2 tries and five converts for 20 points.
Chiappetta's career also saw her honoured with the 2021 Ruth Coe Memorial Award as Carleton's Female Athlete of the Year.
Identified by Rugby Canada through the RBC Training Group program in 2022, Chiappetta joined Ravens' all-time leading scorer Maya Addai and former Ravens' strength and conditioning coach Clarence Gay on the West Coast when she joined the national development program.
