Ottawa (June 5, 2024) - Reigning U SPORTS Rookie of the Year, Xavier Spencer has been invited to the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association training camp in preparation for the Caribbean Basketball Conference World Cup Qualifiers this July.
Before beginning his career at Carleton, Spencer played three games in the 2023 AmeriCup averaging 14.7 minutes per game. The 20-year-old guard, scored 10 points in the team's loss to Nicaragua, scoring a person-best 10 points and recording 6 rebounds.
Winner of the Dr. Peter Mullins Trophy as U SPORTS rookie of the year, Xavier Spencer joined Lloyd Pandi and Philip Scrubb as the third Ravens player to earn the national honour. Spencer led all rookies nationally in points, field goals, free throws, and assists.
Spencer finished the season three points behind Pandi for the program's first-year record while surpassing Scrubb's first-year record for assists with 72. Xavier also established new high-water marks for rookie steals with 31 recording three steals in a single-game five times.
Spencer finished the season with three of the Ravens' five best single-game performances by a rookie while playing a program-high 593 minutes.
