OTTAWA (May 5, 2024) - Carleton Ravens alumnae Demi Swann and Maya Addai have been named to the Rugby Canada Selects squad that will play two matches against Spain this month.
The tour will serve as a development opportunity for the Canadian squad, with Addai and Swann both receiving their first call to the national team program. Addai currently trains in British Columbia with the Maple Leaf Academy, while the dual-citizen Swann recently signed a professional contract with the Exeter Chiefs of the Premiership Women's Rugby.
Addai holds the Ravens all-time points scoring record, despite a season ending injury she suffered in 2023. Now fully recovered, the speedy back will look to impress in front of the national team staff led by Kevin Rouet.
Swann finished her U SPORTS career playing out her graduate studies at the University of Toronto. Early in 2024 she was named to the Scottish roster for WXV2 but did not appear in any games. Her Scottish side narrowly won the tournament by the slimmest of margins, holding a 2-point differential over Italy.
The two countries will meet twice during the tour, with the first game taking place June 9 before a follow up contest on June 15 in Villajoyosa.
