OTTAWA (July 22, 2024) – The Carleton University Women’s Soccer team is pleased to announce the addition of David Bellemare as their new Goalkeeper Coach. With a distinguished career spanning over 25 years, Bellemare brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Ravens.
Bellemare has been an integral part of the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees women’s soccer program for over fifteen seasons, starting in 2004. During his tenure with the Gee-Gees, he contributed to the team's success in winning the OUA Championship in 2006, 2012, 2014, and 2018, as well as the U SPORTS National Championship in 2018 and the FISU World Cup in 2019. Additionally, Bellemare served as the Goalkeeper Coach at the University of Toronto from 1996 to 2002. In the community, David has been a member of the Ottawa South United Goalkeeper Staff since 2016.
Bellemare’s impressive resume also includes time as the goalkeeper coach for Ottawa Fury FC, where he worked with the youth academy and the professional men’s and women’s teams. Notably, he was a member of the coaching staff under current Ravens women’s soccer head coach Dom Oliveri that won the W-League North American Championship in 2012.
Originally from Trois-Rivières, Quebec, Bellemare studied at Laval University, earning a degree in physical activities sciences. His dedication to developing goalkeepers has seen him mentor players who have excelled at the collegiate, university, provincial, national, and professional levels. Recognized as one of the most highly regarded goalkeeper coaches in Canada, Bellemare holds the Ontario Soccer Association and Canada Soccer Goalkeeper License and the Advanced National Goalkeeper License from the NSCAA.
