OTTAWA (July 16, 2024) - The Carleton Ravens are proud to announce Meghan Jolley as the new head coach of the rowing program. An alumna of Carleton University, Jolley has been an assistant coach with the program since graduating in 2022.
As a rower, Meghan was a two-time team MVP and earned her 4-Bar Award as a varsity student-athlete. Meghan earned many medals, including two gold medals at the 2022 Royal Canadian Henley Regatta, two bronze medals at the 2018 OUA Championships, a silver and bronze at the 2019 OUA Championships, and a 4th place medallion at the Head of the Charles Regatta in 2018.
During her degree, Meaghan coached at the Ottawa Rowing Club (ORC) and Elmwood School in Ottawa. Upon completing her degree, Meghan was the Assistant Coach for the Ravens in Fall 2023 and as the Assistant Coach at ORC in 2023 leading the recreational programs.
In 2024, Meghan travelled to Auckland, New Zealand where she coached at the Takapuna Grammar School Rowing Club for 3 months. She is currently working as the Lead Junior Coach at the ORC where she coaches high school aged athletes in the development, intermediate and performance programs.
"Rowing enriched my life immensely while studying at Carleton and I am thrilled to have this opportunity to give back to the team in a big way,” she said of the opportunity. “Former head coach Ed Fournier had been continually building the performance of the varsity team over the past 14 years, coaching the team to many OUA medals. I look forward to being the next coach in line to continue his legacy, and that of all the coaches before him.”
“To welcome Meghan now as our new head coach is a testament to both her success and growth within the coaching space,” said director of high-performance sport, Kwesi Loney. “Her success as a student-athlete and commitment to athlete development as a coach both in Canada and oversees – presents the right mix of tangible experience making her the ideal candidate to take our program forward. We look forward to working with her and the Ravens rowing team.”
Meghan begins her role with Ravens rowing with sights firmly set on continuing to grow the program into the fall season.
