The urgency of an eight-game schedule will be on display Saturday when the Carleton Ravens open the home half of their 2024 OUA football schedule against Windsor.
At 0-1, the Ravens won't want to lose any more ground as they welcome fans back to TAAG Park. There's a lot to build on for Carleton, after an up-and-down start to the season at Guelph, but Windsor brings new challenges.
The 1-0 Lancers knocked off the Queen's Gaels in their opener and now look to continue that moment at Carleton. Despite the win, much like Carleton, Windsor will be looking to improve. Danny Skelton was 14-25 passing for 147 yards, but star running back Joey Zorn was held to just 79 yards.
On the other side of the ball, Carleton's offence showed progress. After Tristan Lefebvre (Calgary, Alta.) left the game, Elijah Barnes (Ancaster, Ont.) passed for 178 yards and a touchdown, but only connected on 52% of his passes.
Matthew Morin (HT) became the first Raven to rush for over 100-yards since Alex Gayle wrapped up the 2023 season with 142 against Guelph. Morin's 114 are the most on an opening day since Josh Ferguson ran for 119 in 2022. It was a breakout day for Morin who had just 32 career carries for 207 yards entering the game.
Defensively, Windsor held Queen's to just 325 yards while recording four interceptions and two sacks. These are numbers the Ravens defense will be looking to match after giving up 513 yards, including 297 on the ground, while generating two turnovers and a sack.
Carleton and Windsor kick off from TAAG Park at 4 PM on Saturday, August 31, 2024. Tickets start as low as $10 with all student tickets just $5!
