BELFAST (Aug. 31, 2024) - A third-period comeback extended the game but couldn't put Carleton over as they fell 4-3 in overtime.
The Alberta Golden Bears led 3-1 after two before Carleton mounted their third period comeback. Playing their second game in as many days, the Ravens battled to get goals from Scott Mackenzie (Calgary, Alta.) and Morneau (Ottawa, Ont.).
Carleton battled much of the game, after giving up the opening goal, Steven Bacovsky (Calgary, Alta.) stopped a penalty shot to keep the Ravens in the game early on. Peter Amanatidis (Mont-Royal, Que.) would reward Bacovsky for his effort before the end of the frame, tying the game at one.
The Ravens looked tired at times in the second period, as the game got more physical with penalties breaking up much of the action the Golden Bears scored twice, pulling ahead by two after two.
With only 17 seconds left in the overtime, the Golden Bears spoiled the Ravens comeback when Sean Tschigerl scored his second of the evening to send Carleton on from Ireland winless. The Ravens are back in action on Wednesday when they face the Selber Wolfe of DEL2 before finishing the trip Thursday against the Oberliga's EC Peiting.
