OTTAWA (Sept. 1, 2024) - The Carleton Ravens successfully began their defence of the 2023 OUA Championship this weekend with a pair of road wins.
The Ravens capped off their road trip today with a 3-1 win over the Laurentian Voyageurs, wrapping up the weekend which began with a 3-2 win at Nipissing.
The Ravens were the first to concede on Sunday, allowing a goal in the fourth minute before finding their form. From then on, it was all Ravens outshooting the Voyageurs 21-4 while scoring 3 straight goals. Caden Tomy erased the early deficit when he found Brady Curkovic in the 18th minute. His second goal of the season, Curkovic put the Ravens back into position to pounce, which they did just 16 minutes later.
Darren Bouaziz scored the Ravens' winner in the 34th minute before assisting on Moses Kafeero's brace in the 60th minute.
Sunday's win was far more comfortable than the season opener on Saturday. The Nipissing Lakers locked down the Ravens' high-flying offence for much of the afternoon, allowing Carleton only 9 shots while constantly hanging in the game. Rayane Broumar opened the scoring for Nipissing before Carleton scored three consecutive goals.
Eric Yoseke scored a cheeky redirect to tie the game early in the first half before Loic Gunn scored his first as a Raven just before the half.
Carleton would add to their lead early in the first half as Curkovic scored his first of the weekend. Brady's goal would hold on to be the winner, after Nipissing cut the lead to one minutes later with a goal from Olutosin Ajakaiye.
The men's soccer team starts the home half of their season Friday night with a ceremony to celebrate the 2023 championship team before kickoff against Queen's. The team returns to action against RMC on Sunday afternoon.
Tickets to both games and Ravens soccer season tickets are on sale now.
