OTTAWA (Sept. 20, 2024) - The #1 Carleton Ravens settled for a 1-1 draw following a spirited contest against the #9 Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday night.
The Blues opened the scoring in the first half when Michael Osorio slid one past Tyler David for the early lead. The Ravens immediately started to flex their speed as they looked for a draw. Almost 14 minutes after conceding the opening goal, Carleton drew level.
After a pass came to him along the left side of the pitch, Adam N'Goran (Gatineau, Que.) made a slight backheel pass to Eric Yoseke (Ottawa, Ont.). Yoseke carried the ball into the left corner before cutting back inside and sending his defender flying off the pitch. Yoseke then drove into the box, finding Ousman Maheshe in a prime scoring position. The Ravens' elite rookie made no mistake tying the match with his fifth goal of the season.
The two teams traded chances in the second half only for penalties to become the main story as time ticked away. Despite both clubs efforts to pull out a win fate wouldn't have it. A top ten battle for the top of an OUA table ended in a draw. The weekend gets no easier for the Ravens as the #7 TMU Bold are next on the docket Sunday afternoon at 3:30 PM.
