OTTAWA (Sept. 1, 2024) - The Carleton Ravens women's soccer team will return home from their first trip of the year with a 1-1 record after a narrow 2-1 victory at Laurentian.
Always difficult on their home field, the Voyageurs pushed the Ravens right into the 90th minute before breaking to the Ravens' constant pressure. It took more than 30 shot attempts for the Ravens to conquer Laurentian. Trailing by a goal in the second minute of extra time, Ava Mills beat Hunter Jones to tie the game. Then, just three minutes later, Mills connected with Lauren Illman who put home the winner in the fifth minute of extra time.
The Ravens' win was a bounce-back performance after a difficult opening day at Nipissing. Cassidy Brooks was the day's story, scoring an opening day hat-trick for the hosts. Despite the scoreline, graduate goalkeeper Chloe Lachance-Soulard (Ottawa, Ont.) showed well for Carleton in the opening making 10 saves in the loss.
The Ravens' next action comes on Friday, Sept. 6, when they Ravens host the Queen's Gaels in their home opener at 6:00 p.m. The Ravens will also be in home action against RMC next Sunday afternoon. Tickets for both games and Ravens soccer season tickets are on sale now.
