OTTAWA (October 23, 2024) - Carleton Ravens rugby's Sierra Hasse has been named the 2024 RSEQ Women's Rugby Rookie of the Year. Hasse becomes the first Ravens player ever to earn the award.
The St. Lazarre, Quebec product made a big impact on the pitch this fall. Hasse's previous national team experience with the Canada U20 program was fully displayed as a powerful 8. In six games, Hasse was named Ravens MVP three times, leading the team with four tries scored.
An explosive runner, Hasse played a key role in the Ravens' back row but showed off her versatility by also spending time as a centre.
Along with being named the Rookie of the Year, Hasse is also a RSEQ First-Team All Star. Hasse is the sixth Raven to be named to the first-team, joining all-stars Maya Addai (x2), Lauryn Walker, Charlotte Elliott, Natasha Smith (x2), and Maria Godfrey.
