The Carleton Ravens men's soccer team finished off the 2024 regular season with a pair of wins at home over the weekend.
The Ravens lit up the visiting Trent Excalibur for seven goals on Friday afternoon before scoring a last-minute winner against Ontario Tech on Saturday. With the two wins, the Ravens capped off the 2024 season with an 8-2-2 record, one point behind the TMU Bold in third place.
The Ravens will now how a home playoff game next weekend when the sixth-place Laurentian Voyageurs return to TAAG Park.
Just minutes after the Ravens women's team beat the Excalibur 7-0, the men did the exact same. Darren Bouaziz and Mohamed Bouzidi scored seconds apart to open the scoring as Carleton built a 4-0 first-half lead.
Bouaziz would score a hat trick with three goals in twenty minutes while four Ravens scored goals on the afternoon.
Roberto Paguaga Frankovich faced just a single shot in goal for the Ravens recording the clean sheet.
Only a month out from hosting the 2024 U SPORTS Men's Soccer Championships, the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks went toe-to-toe with the defending OUA Champions on Saturday pushing Carleton to the final seconds.
Despite the Ridgebacks having generated the best scoring chances of the afternoon, Carleton struck quickly in the 88th minute when Kevon Grant stopped an Ousman Maheshe header but spilled the rebound to Adrijan Vranjkovic who scored his second goal in as many days to mark the victory.
While Grant surrendered the winner late, Carleton's Tyler David was the story in the Carleton goal, making 4 saves throughout the afternoon including a pair of highlight-reel efforts to keep the game scoreless for most of the afternoon.
