OTTAWA (Oct. 1, 2024) - The Carleton Ravens are undefeated no more following a pair of losses on the road last weekend to TMU and UofT.
The Ravens opened the weekend by quickly falling behind the TMU Bold. The Bold struck like lighting opening the scoring in the first minute before Jevontae Layne finished off a natural hat trick with goals in the 16th and 21st minute.
Shell shocked and trailing 3-0 at the half, Carleton was unable to chip away at the lead despite some good second half pressure. Bold keeper Dante Ferraro put up his second consecutive strong performance against Carleton turning aside all seven shots on target to record the clean sheet.
After the loss on Saturday, Carleton hoped to bounce back against Toronto the following afternoon. Despite some chances on goal in the opening twenty minutes the Ravens couldn't solve Maxwell Campeau as the Varsity Blues began to gain confidence.
Toronto seized the momentum to start the second half, after midfielder Caden Tomy was booked the Blues broke the scoring when Andrea Schifano beat Tyler David for the lead. The game took a rather chippy stance for the next fifteen minutes before Kingsley Belele added to the Toronto lead in the 69th.
The Ravens went to the bench in the final 12 minutes bringing in as series of substitutes. The fresh legs paid off quickly, after 87th minute substitute Mohammed Bouzidi was booked in his first minute he redeemed himself in extra time scoring to cut the lead in half.
Bouzidi nearly tied the game in extra time when he headed a free kick on goal but Campeau was solid one final time securing the victory.
