The Carleton Ravens men's hockey team begins the 2024-25 season on Friday night when they host 2023 OUA finalists the TMU Bold.
The Ravens begin the 2024 season on the precipice of a new era after significant player graduations following last season. Led by newly named captain Blake Allan, the Ravens must fill in a major scoring void left by the loss of graduating players including Kieran Craig and Parker Aucoin. Nick McCarry, Oliver Castleman, and Alex Johnston are returning on the attack, they were all among the top five scorers for the team last season.
After a strong rookie season, Nolan Seed returns to lead the Ravens' blueline alongside Majid Kaddoura. The Ravens will be without longtime blueliners Matt Barberis, Lukash Matthews and Simon Kerr who graduated after last season. The Ravens blueline may be the strength of the locker room, with five returning blueliners.
In goal, the Ravens begin life without Mark Grametbauer as Tye Austin and Merrimack transfer Steven Bacovsky will man the cage. Austin appeared in 6 games for Carleton in 2023/24 posting a 0-4 record with a .902 save percentage. Bacovsky is a two-year red shirt at Merrimack after playing 4 years in the SJHL and MJHL. In his final season of junior hockey, Bacovsky posted a 12-13-2 record with a .914 save percentage.
