The Carleton Ravens women's soccer team are hopeful a late game-winner on Sunday afternoon will turn a new leaf on their recent slide. The Ravens (4-3-2) were unbeaten in four after losing their season opener before going winless in three until last Sunday.
After suffering their third clean sheet loss of the season on Saturday, Ava Mills's game-winner in added time propelled Carleton to victory Sunday. With only home games remaining, the Ravens hope to add space in the table as they race for the playoffs.
With 14 points through 9 games, the Ravens are a single point ahead of Toronto and seven up on Ontario Tech sitting just outside the playoffs.
Carleton will face a steep challenge on Saturday when they host Ottawa. First in the OUA at 8-1, the Gee-Gees lead the conference in goals with 36 through 9 games. Carleton sits 8th in the goals table with 18. Carleton will need to find a way to get to Ottawa. The Gee-Gees have only allowed 4 goals on 27 shots on target this season.
Ava Mills and Lauren Illman have provided the bulk of the Ravens' offence combining for 9 goals, but there's been balance to the attack that lacks the injured Chloe Doiron. Quinn Snell (3), Mikalya Moser (2) and Molly Owen (2) have all scored multiple times this season for a Carleton squad that is on one of their more impressive scoring paces.
Ottawa enters firing on all cylinders as Casandra Provost and Nibo Dlamini are both top five in OUA scoring with Provost just two goals back of the conference lead. Provost is a constant threat with no fear of shooting, leading the conference with 43 shots through nine contests.
