Former Carleton Ravens football standouts Jack Cassar and Tunde Adeleke helped the Toronto Argonauts capture the 111th Grey Cup on Sunday night. Former Ravens defensive back Jonathan Edouard is also a member of the Argos, though he was inactive for the game.
Cassar (2019-2019) had a key fumble recovery which turned the tide for the boatmen midway through the third quarter. Cassar becomes the first Ravens player to ever recover a fumble in the Grey Cup. With the win, Cassar is the third Ravens player to win two or more Grey Cups.
Adeleke, a past Grey Cup winner with Hamilton, had two defensive tackles. This was Tunde's fifth Grey Cup, a high-mark for all Carleton players. After rewriting the record books in his time on campus, Adeleke continues to lead the Ravens in the CFL. Adeleke's first four appearances in the Grey Cup came in in four straight years, with Calgary and Hamilton.
Dating back to 1950, the Argos are 8-0 in Grey Cup games when they have an Old Crow on the roster. Johnny Shore of the Ravens and Frank Dunlap of the ST. Pats were the first to accomplish the feat 74 years ago when he and the Argos also beat Winnipeg in the big game.
