OTTAWA (Nov. 11, 2024) - The Ravens' smothering defence was on full display Sunday night as Carleton picked up an 88-41 win over the York Lions. With the win, the #7 Ravens improve to 5-0 ahead of Friday's matchup against Algoma.
Generating nine turnovers in the opening quarter, Carleton quickly pounced on the Lions and jumped out to a 27-12 lead. Noelle Kilbreath and Catherine Oliver each had 2 steals in the opening quarter with Kilbreath adding eight points as Carleton pulled away early.
The Ravens didn't slow down in the second, hitting four threes and shooting 64.3% from the field while the Lions turned over the ball seven more times. The turnovers would prove costly for the Lions, who won the rebounding matchup on the night, but couldn't swing that 13-rebound margin into points. With only 11 second-chance points to Carleton's five, the Ravens' 45 points off turnovers buried the Lions.
Carleton ground York down until they shot just 4-23 in the second half. After outscoring the Lions 22-7 in the third, the Ravens went deeper into the rotation in the fourth while continuing to shut down the visitors.
Kilbreath and Jacqueline Urban each had 6 points in the third quarter as the Ravens shot 60% from the field. Kyana-Jade Poulin also added in a season-high 18 points for Carleton despite playing just 20 minutes.
