OTTAWA (Jan. 31, 2025) — Carleton Ravens football and head coach Corey Grant have announced that the program is restructuring its organization ahead of the 2025 season by adding a new full-time Recruiting and Youth Program Coordinator position. This position is strategically important to the program's long-term success by establishing a national recruiting strategy and ensuring a lasting and positive connection to the Ottawa football community.
Alex Lothian will take on this important new role while also remaining on the field as a defensive assistant. Lothian brings a wealth of recruitment and player development experience to the role, having previously served as a Defensive Assistant, Camp Director and Recruiting Co-ordinator for the Saint Mary's Huskies. Alex also brings past youth experience having served as the Defensive Coordinator and Defensive Line Coach for U18 Football Nova Scotia. Since joining the Ravens in 2023 Lothian has been instrumental in the program’s recruiting and player development initiatives.
“Alex will play a big role in supporting our recruiting and development pipeline,” said Corey Grant. “His experience at the provincial level will be crucial in helping us to continue the legacy of Junior Ravens Football while identifying and recruiting the best student-athletes to grow our varsity program.”
As a result of this new role for Lothian, the program has begun a search for a defensive coordinator. This search runs in parallel to the search for a new offensive coordinator.
“We’re committed to continuing to build a culture of success both on and off the field,” added Corey Grant. “This program will work tirelessly to bring continued growth and positive results to the Carleton community.”
The Carleton Ravens will honour the top performers of the 2024 season when the team holds their annual Carleton Ravens Football Celebration sponsored by TAAG on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Oliver’s Pub and Patio.
