OTTAWA (Jan. 26, 2025) - The Carleton Ravens women's hockey team suffered their third straight loss on Saturday night falling 3-1 to the York Lions. The Ravens' loss leaves them six points behind the Queen's Gaels for the fifth and final playoff spot in the OUA East.
Early in the first Carleton had much better legs than a night before at Nipissing, skating with the Lions and drawing an early power play. After failing to score on the advantage, Avery Krawchuk would take a holding call with 11:05 to play in the first which the Ravens would kill off, but they couldn’t escape the period unscathed. York would break in late in the frame with Jillian Milligan firing a wrist shot low to the glove side of Kaitlyn Langille for the opening goal.
The Lions would add another in the opening minute of the second and it looked as though Carleton may trail by two after 40, but Olwen Jones banged home a Shae Laprade rebound on the power play to cut the lead to 2-1.
Early in the third, with the Ravens on the power play, Isabela Hurculak would streak in and beat Langille under her blocker on the far side to renew the two-goal lead. The Ravens would have a chance to close the gap with an extended five-on-three but came away with nothing.
The Ravens return to action on Friday night when they host the Queen's Gaels in a pivotal matchup at the Ice House.
