Ravens Sports Info (Jan. 19, 2025) - The Carleton Ravens continue to battle for the final playoff spot in the OUA East after splitting their weekend series in Toronto.
The Ravens kicked things off with an important 4-0 win over TMU at the Bold's Winter Home Coming Night before being shut out 3-0 by the Varsity Blues on Saturday. The split is pivotal in the Ravens' season as they are battling to keep pace in the OUA playoff hunt.
On Friday, the Ravens wasted little time ruining TMU's party. Vicky Kay opened the scoring for the Ravens 6:17 into the first and Carleton never looked back controlling most of the period. Justina Beard and Aoife Mahaffy scored 64 seconds apart late in the period to extend the lead to three.
Carleton kept up the pressure in the second as Shae Laprade scored her fourth of the year to put things out of reach. The Ravens dominated the opening two periods holding TMU to just 13 shots before they threw everything they could at Kaitlyn Langille in the third.
The rookie netminder was up to the task turning aside 14 shots to wrap up her first career shutout.
Back in action Saturday evening, Carleton found their fate reversed against a veteran Toronto team. Despite two chances on the powerplay, the Ravens found themselves in a scoreless tie after 20 minutes and looking for a way to create offence. Early in the second, Taylor Thompson scored on the power play to give the Blues the lead.
The Ravens pushed back hard in the third, but couldn't solve Carle Vance. Despite a late penalty shot awarded to Sydney Berta, Carleton was shut out for just the second time this season.
