OTTAWA (Mar. 19, 2025) - Carleton Ravens men's hockey's rookie sensation Giovanni Morneau has been named a U SPORTS All-Rookie Team member. The OUA Rookie of the year was a national standout and runner up for the U SPORTS Rookie of the Year award.
Morneau lit up the OUA scoring a team-high 33 points. His dazzling Michigan Goal and coast-to-coast game-winner at the Colonel By Classic were mere sparkles of his talent.
Morneau's 15 goals and 9 power play assists led all OUA rookies. Morneau tied for fourth in conference point scoring and top ten in goals. Nationally, Morneau was tied for fifteenth in points.
Alberta's Sean Tschigerl was named the country's top rookie. He had 20 goals and 19 assists for 39 points in 26 games.
Morneau is the first Ravens player to earn All-Rookie team honours since Brett Welychka in 2016. He joins Welychka, former U SPORTS Rookie of the Year Mitch Porowski, and goaltender Matthew Dopud as the only players of the program's modern era to earn the award.
