Carleton Ravens alumna Vanessa Chiappetta has been named to Canada’s Women’s Sevens Team roster for Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens. The fifth leg of the 2025 HSBC SVNS series will be the first of her career.
A Rugby Canada recruit through RBC Training Ground, Chiappetta was a force in her time at Carleton collecting the Ruth Coe Award as Carleton's female athlete of the year in 2022. Chiappetta has previously represented Canada at the 2024 FISU World University Championship helping the team claim a silver medal.
During her time at Carleton, Chiappetta set records for points in single-match with 32 and points in a single season with 76. Chiappetta left Carleton to join Rugby Canada midway through the 2023 season just nine points back of Maya Addai for the program's career points record. During the Ravens' bronze medal playoff run in 2022, Vanessa scored an astounding 33 points in 3 matches.
The action gets underway on Friday, March 28 when Canada takes on Japan at 10:30 p.m. EDT on TSN+.
