For Immediate ReleaseThursday, June 26, 2025
The Ravens are excited to announce the commencement of a national search for the first full-time head coach for the women's soccer team, set to begin following the 2025 season. This historic step will identify the leader who will play a critical role in continuing to elevate our women's soccer program.
“This decision reflects our ongoing commitment to advancing women’s sport and supporting our student-athletes with the resources they need to thrive,” shared Ravens Director of High Performance Sport, Kwesi Loney. “It also positions Carleton within the growing landscape of full-time coaching roles in the women’s game, where leadership, mentorship, and professional excellence continue to be critical to the sport’s growth across the country.”
Dom Oliveri, who has been with the program since 2018, will remain in his role through the 2025 season. Under his guidance, the team has achieved remarkable milestones, including back-to-back home playoff games for the first time in a decade. “As Dom enters his final season with our women’s soccer program, we recognize and celebrate a coach whose contributions have shaped far more than just a team,” shared Loney. “Over the past seven years, he has laid the foundation and built the infrastructure needed to elevate our program, turning it into a true destination for young women across the country who want to compete, grow, and excel through sport.
“The past seven years at Carleton University have been some of the most rewarding of my coaching career,” expressed Oliveri. “It has been an incredible honour to coach such driven and inspiring student-athletes and to help build a women’s soccer program rooted in excellence, resilience, and community. As the university transitions to a full-time head coaching model, it’s simply not the right time in my professional life, for me and my family, to take that step. While it will be difficult to step away at the end of the season, I am incredibly proud of what we have built. The program stands on a strong foundation, and I have every confidence it will continue to grow and thrive in the years ahead.”
Dom’s influence has extended well beyond campus, playing a transformative role in the development of women’s soccer throughout the City of Ottawa. From leading the 2012 Ottawa Fury Women’s team — now proudly inducted into the Ottawa Sports Hall of Fame — to inspiring the next generation of players and coaches through his time with the Nepean Hotspurs, EODSA, Ottawa Fury, Algonquin College and OSU Soccer Club.
“I am incredibly grateful to Carleton University, our players, staff, and the Ottawa soccer community for their support over the past seven years,” Dom added. “I will continue to be a proud supporter of the program and look forward to seeing its continued growth and success.”
“Dom’s legacy is one of vision, integrity, and lasting impact,” shared Kwesi Loney. “We thank him for his commitment and passion for student-athlete excellence.”
The search for a new head coach is now underway. Interested candidates can apply through Carleton's HR website between June 27 and July 18, 2025.
The Carleton Ravens will open their 2025 season on Saturday, August 31, 2025, as they travel to Downsview Park to face the TMU Bold.
