OTTAWA (July 2, 2025) - Carleton Ravens men's hockey forward Madoka Suzuki has signed a professional contract with the Nikko IceBucks of the Asia League. Suzuki became the first Japanese-born Carleton Ravens men's hockey player when he made his debut in 2021.
Suzuki appeared in 8 games in his first year before suffering a lacerated achilles tendon. Suzuki would recover in-time to make his international debut, playing in the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships Division 1, Group B tournament in Tychy, Poland.
Suzuki would play nearly a full schedule in 2022-23 before spending part of the 2023-24 season recovering from wrist surgery. In 72 regular-season games, the speedy forward had 12 goals and 16 assists.
A transfer from Long Island University, Suzuki opened the 2024-25 season with two goals and an assist.
Off the ice, Madoka was a committed member of the Carleton Ravens Varsity Council, playing a key role in supporting community initiatives.
During the 2023-24 season, Suzuki received regional and national media attention for continuing to support the growth of hockey by spending time as the official translator for PWHL rookie Akane Shiga.
