This double-header of OUA hockey action is the middle event in a three-leg series that kicked off with the Panda Game on October 5 and concludes in February at the Capital Hoops Classic basketball games.
In 2024, the Ravens men recaptured the Colonel By Classic flag with a thrilling 5-4 overtime win, while the Gee-Gees took the Alerts Cup, winning their fourth straight women's game.

The annual Colonel By Classic is a doubleheader of hockey games between the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees and Carleton Ravens men’s and women’s teams. The event became a double-header in 2023, and both games went to overtime, with the men winning 8-7 and the women losing 4-3.
Named after Colonel By Drive, the road which connects Carleton and uOttawa, the Colonel By Classic is a Canadian rivalry hockey game between the Carleton Ravens and uOttawa Gee-Gees. The game has been held between men's teams since 2016, and women’s teams in 2018. The Colonel By Classic is the newest of the three rivalries that Carleton’s sports teams have with uOttawa.
The first Colonel By Classic was held on October 19, 2016, where Carleton’s men’s hockey won 6-2. A women's game, titled the Alert Cup, was later added in 2018. Carleton won the Alert Cup inaugural game 5–2.
