After months of training in the cold and dark, the Ravens rowing team are ready for the OUA Championship. This Saturday, the Ravens take to the water at the Welland International Flatwater Centre with eyes on some individual awards.
With a young, small team, the Ravens are looking to rebuild momentum following the season lost to the global pandemic. Throughout preseason competition the Ravens have had small showings from rowers Brandon Edge (Arnprior, Ont.), Meghan Jolley (Strathroy, Ont.) and the men’s lightweight fours team.
Asked about the upcoming regatta, Jolley looked ahead at the regatta as opportunity to show off the team’s hard work. “The OUA rowing championships are a chance to race the best varsity athletes from across the province. It is arguably the most important race of our varsity season.” Jolley would go on to add how hard the team has been training throughout the pandemic. “We train 6 days per week 12 months of the year, all for a less than 10-minute race. It shows how resilient and dedicated we are to the sport and how proud we are to be Ravens.”
