On the second day of men’s basketball action, the Carleton Ravens came to play with another dominant performance over the Nippissing Lakers defeating them 103-56.

This completes the sweep as Carleton triumphed on both days. Unlike the first performance however, the first quarter was a lot closer as both teams went back and forth scoring with Carleton ending with a lead of 25-17.

However, that’s where most of the competitiveness stayed as the Ravens managed to pull away and end the first half of play with a score of 44-29.

A key factor in this game was third-year guard Aidan Warnholtz who scored a game-high 24 points with many big shots to lead the Ravens to victory.

“We knew they were gonna come out and punch us in the mouth early because they didn’t want another score like yesterday so I’m happy we came away with the win.”

Despite the dominant win, both Warnholtz and Ravens coach Taffe Charles believe that errors were made that need to be fixed before the next game. “I am a little disappointed with the way we started,” coach Charles said adding “this is the first time we play the same team twice [in a row]. I think this is just a learning experience for the team and as the season progresses, we will adjust.”

Charles emphasized how good Warnholtz was during the post-game availability, “I think he is consistent and he is trying to be a leader. Part of being a leader is following by example and he approached the game today the same way yesterday.”

Carleton basketball returns to action Friday, November 19, as the Ravens will host the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks at the Ravens’ Nest.
