Canmore, Alta. – Ravens skiiers past and present shone brightly at the 2022 National Trials at the Foothills Nordic Ski Club in Calgary, Alta. From January 6 to 11, 2022 three Ravens competed with the Nakkertok Ski Club at the national trials in Canmore.

Current Ravens Brownwyn Williams and Katherine Mason competed alongside former Raven Zoë Williams and the best nordic skiers in Canada over four days of competition. Veteran Zoë Williams never missed a final over the four days, while Bronwyn Williams and Katherine Mason each finished strong with top ten performances and strong finishes throughout the competition.

In Tuesday’s Classic Sprint Heats Zoë Williams finished 6th overall with a finals time of 3:41.07 after posting times of 3:38.95 in a hotly contested semi-final. Current Ravens Bronwyn Williams and Katherine Mason both reached the semi-finals finishing with times of 3.57.77 and 3.58.21 for eighth and twelfth place. The strong finish wrapped up an impressive week for the two current Ravens who showed admirably among the nation’s best skiers.

In Sunday’s freestyle 15km race, Bronwyn Williams finished third in the U23 division, while Mason cracked the top 10. Former Raven Zoë Williams finished just back of the podium in 5th place in the Senior Women’s race.

For Bronwyn, the result matched Saturday’s strong showing in the 10km Classic where she finished less than two minutes back of winner Anna Parent in third place. Mason had another strong showing, two minutes back of Bronwyn in 8th. For Bronwyn, her pace was even strong enough to finish ahead of Zoe by 0.5 seconds, besting her older sister by one spot in the overall standings.

Bronwyn Williams and Katherine Mason will now return to training while they await the naming of the squad for the FIS U23 World Ski Championships scheduled for Lygna Skisenter in Norway in late February.
