OTTAWA – Carleton Women’s soccer are proud to announce the commitment of forward Samantha Balcaen (Winnipeg, Man.) of the Bonivital Soccer Club and Glenlawn Collegiate.
Balcean has previously participated in Regional EXCEL (REX) programs with Vancouver Whitecaps Manitoba Rex Program player and the Canada U17 REX ID Camp. A Valour FC Elite Girls and 2019 Western Canada Summer Games Player arrives at Carleton with a balanced focus on academics and athletics.
A fast-paced forward, Balcaen models her play after Canadian superstar Christine Sinclair and is keen to bring a similar intensity to the pitch at the Ravens’ Perch. “I like fast pace, intense type of play,” wrote Balcaen. “I also like when I’m able to show my speed and having my teammates being able to know what I’m going to do with the ball, whether it’s passing or running with it, cause that helps to be able to have the fast paced style of play during games or practices.”
Balcaen will join the Ravens in 2022 as they look to build off a strong finish to the 2021 season.
