To say the Ravens recent participation in the OUA Championships at the University of Toronto was a great success would be an understatement. Despite limited competition since 2020, the Ravens made huge strides with the women finishing sixth overall, up from tenth in 2020, and the men finishing fifth, up four spots from ninth in 2020.
The meet was highlighted by three bronze medals for the men by Finn Tuck in 100m backstroke, Cam Teasdale in 50m breaststroke, and the 4 x 50m medley relay of Yazan Al Bawwab, Cam, Nathan Landry, and Finn. Most impressive among the results, the men’s relay team competed in the first of two heats putting down a blazing time before some of the provinces' top clubs hit the water. Cam Teasdale who had previously qualified for U Sports Championships in the 50m breaststroke now adds a second event in the 100m breaststroke.
Carleton's stark improvements are led by Coach Pierre Lafontaine who won the OUA Swim Coach of the Year for both women and men. Lafontaine becomes the first Ravens swimming coach to win the honour on either side of the championship.
There were seven Varsity records set by the women: 5 individual and 2 in relays. The men also set seven records: 4 individual and 3 relay.
