David McBain retired from his position as head coach of the Carleton Ravens golf team following the 2023-24 season.
As part of his second career, Dave was the Ravens Golf's head coach through the 2023 season, and formerly the team's mental strength coach and mentor. Dave has been involved in the golf industry since 2012, first becoming a Level III First Tee Life and Golf Skill Coach, then a PGA of Canada Class “A” Professional.
He holds an undergraduate degree in science from Carleton, which has deepened his understanding of swing technique, technology, mental processes, and emotions. The combination makes him popular with all ages, skill levels and learning preferences.
Before graduating from Carleton in 1976, Dave played golf for the Ravens during the 1971-1972 season. He received one of the first scholarships offered by Sports Canada to be a student/golfer at a university in Canada.
Dave began his golf coaching career in 2008. He is a member of the PGA of Canada and is the Mental Skills & Performance Coach at The Marshes Golf Club in Kanata. He is also a recognized life and golf skill coach and mentor for The First Tee chapter in Palm Springs, California.
