The late Ross Robertson distinguished himself by excelling et two sports, and assumed a leadership role both within the athletics arena and at the University itself. He came to Carleton in 1947 and distinguished himself as a competitor and an athlete who worked hard to win, so much so that he was made captain of both the football and basketball teams. He was the unanimous choice as Carleton's Athlete of the Year in 1948-49, and went on to become President of the Carleton University Students' Council during his final year, 1949-50.
