Nicky Majid may have been the program’s first star player when she came to Carleton in 1982 from Brookfield High School. In her two years at Carleton, she was the team’s top scorer and the team’s Most Valuable Player. She received the Ruth Coe Award as the top female athlete of the year twice. In a division with three top 10 teams, Majid was also a two-time Ontario Women's Interuniversity Athletic Association (OWIAA), now OUA, All Star with an average of 15.1 points per game. She was instrumental in leading the Ravens to their first-ever playoff appearance. She went on to Laurentian University before travelling to England for a successful professional basketball career.
