Paul Armstrong has been a familiar face in and around the Ravens’ Nest since the mid-1970’s. As a player he was a three-time OUAA All Star before making the move to coaching. He was Head Coach of the women’s basketball team (1981-83) before taking over as the men’s coach (1983-99). Under his leadership, the Ravens won the Ontario University Athletic Association’s Eastern Division championship in 1988 and went on to an appearance in the national championships. Armstrong was named OUA basketball coach of the year twice, in 1984 and 1999.
In addition to his coaching and playing accolades, Armstrong is well-known for his involvement in the Ravens basketball community. He has been an active leader in establishing relationships with alumni and supporters, and has laid the foundation for a prosperous economic future for Ravens Basketball through his work as a Senior Development Office with Carleton Athletics. Paul also assisted in the fundraising campaign to bring back the Ravens football program in 2013.
