Horn-Miller was Carleton University’s Female Athlete of the Year in 1994-1995, 1995-1996 and 1996- 1997. She played on the Carleton team that won the OUA championship in 1994-1995 and 1995-1996. She was also honoured with the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) MVP and first team All Star awards in the same three year period. During the period of 1990-1997, Waneek won twenty gold medals at the Indigenous Games, one for rifle shooting and the rest for Water Polo.
After graduating from Carleton, she went on to win a gold medal at the Pan American Games in 1999. She co-captained the Canadian national team during the 2000 Summer Olympics and she was the first Mohawk woman to compete in the games. That year, Waneek won the Youth National Aboriginal Achievement Award. She also appeared on the cover of Time Magazine. Waneek was a CBC broadcaster at the Olympics in 2004, 08, and 2012. She travels all over Canada as an Assembly of First Nations Sports Ambassador.
