There comes a time when every bird must leave the nest, and for the Carleton Ravens, that time has finally come. After two homestands and a bye week, the Ravens will play their first regular-season road games this weekend when they travel to face the York Lions.
After a pair of successful weekend series against the Nipissing Lakers and Ontario Tech Ridgebacks the men’s and women’s squads remain undefeated while maintaining first and sixth place rankings in the U SPORTS Top 10.

Dangerous Depth – The Ravens have shown explosive depth in the first month of the OUA season. Kali Pocrnic and Madison Reid are surrounded by a conspiracy of talent. Tatyanna Burke is averaging a double-double a game with 12.8 rebounds and 10.0 points per game while seven Ravens are shooting over 40.0% from the field.
Free Points – The Ravens have been excellent from the free-throw line, taking advantage of bonus situations shooting 72.6% from the charity stripe.
Quiet King – Cyanna King is coming off back-to-back double-doubles for the Lions. The Ravens will need keep her in check if they want to be successful. With 12 rebounds on Saturday, King is fourth in the OUA with 44 rebounds in her first four games.
Solve the Lions Defence – The Lions have relied heavily on Somto Dimanochie and Brendon Chevannes to start the season. Providing stability to the defensive end of the court, Dimanochie and Chevannes have helped York to an OUA fifth-best 76.0 points against per game.
Consistency is Key – The Ravens have outscored their opponents in 14 of 16 quarters this season and will want to do more of the same against a York team who lead only Nipissing in points scored per game (63.0).
A Collective Effort – Not one Raven current sits in the U SPORTS top twenty when it comes to points per game. It’s been a team effort for the Ravens who are looking to do play the games the right and return to their championship form. Despite not having a top 25 scorer in U SPORTS, the Ravens lead the country in points per game (103.5) and least points allowed (56.0)
