Carleton club athletes were busy this week kicking off December in competitions across Ontario and Quebec.
At the 20th York University Xmas Open, Carleton’s Alexandra Telford finished 10th in the Women’s 60M with a time of 7.88sec. Finishing 5th in the women’s 300m Telford set a Club Record of 41.15.
The Ravens also competed in the men’s 60m with MIchael Pinnock (7.38), Marion Ajijala (7.67), and Amro Mohamed (8.09) all participating in the meet.
At the International Neptune Invitational in Montreal, Que., the Carleton Ravens had a strong showing from a number of swimmers. Finn Tuck finished fourth in the 100m Backstroke in a time of 57.92S and Yazan Al Bawwab finished 8th in a time of 59.51S. Tuck also finished fourth in the 200m Backstroke (2:08.27) and fourth in the 100 IM (59.02). Nathan Landry narrowly missed the podium with a time of 57.64 in the 100m Fly final, good for fifth place. At distance, Garrett Masn finished third in the men’s 800m Free with a time of 10:07.47 and second in the 200m Fly with a time of 2:07.93.
In the women’s 200m breaststroke Aoife McGrory finished 7th in 2:43.28. In the women’s 50 fly, Josephine Streppel finished 4th with a time of 28.91, a 1 second improvement from the preliminary round. Steppel also finished 8th in the 100m fly in a time of 1:05.35.
