Kingston, Ont. – The Ravens struggled offensively on Saturday falling to the Gaels 45-0.
The first quarter was scoreless as both teams had impressive defensive efforts. As the second quarter opened an early safety for the Gaels opened up the scoring and the flood gates. Soon after, the Gaels would get another safety to gain a 4-0 lead. After the Gaels marched their way to the 30-yard line, kicker, Nick Liberatore (Dartmouth, N.S.) made no mistake and increase the lead by 3.
The Gaels would continue to execute as the Ravens showed their youth, after a series of turnovers led to scoring drives, the Ravens would find themselves down 27-0 at the half.
The Gaels opened the half a forcing the Ravens to concede a third safety increasing their lead to 29. Unfortunately for the Ravens, they would continue to struggle on offence, while the Gaels would dominate possession to end the quarter with the Ravens down 36-0.
The Gaels would continue to take advantage of Ravens’ mistakes scoring another touchdown and a safety early in the fourth quarter.
“Sometimes when it starts to go downhill, it gets really steep, really fast,” explained Head coach Steve Sumarah when reflecting on the outcome of today’s game.
Ravens head into their bye week with all eyes on a rematch with uOttawa on Thursday, October 28 for the final regular game of the season. The kickoff is scheduled for at 6:00 p.m. and will be available at OUA.TV.
