The Ravens are coming off extended rest, last playing Friday night when their late comeback fell short resulting in a 3-2 loss at Ontario Tech. The Ravens (1-4-2) are 10 points behind the visiting York Lions (5-1) for third place in the OUA East. With only a handful of games left in the 2021 regular season, the Ravens are looking to carry the momentum for their two late second-half goals in Oshawa to pick up a massive three points at home. The visiting Lions sit three points back of the Queen’s Gaels for second in the division, but four points up on the next third-place team, the West division’s Guelph Gryphons.
Ravens soccer is a non-ticketed event, but due to COVID-19 restrictions capacity will be limited. Arrive early to ensure your spot at the Perch.
Not likely to be the last time the Ravens (6-0-1) and Lions (5-1) cross paths, the U SPORTS #2 and #3 ranked teams will collide for the first time Friday night under the lights at the Ravens’ Perch. The Ravens are coming off a difficult draw at home last Sunday afternoon but remain 1-point up on the visiting Lions for first in the East. With points on the line and a return fixture in North York on Sunday, this is one of the most highly anticipated fixtures of the season.
The York offence is power-packed and led by OUA leaders Dieu Merci Yuma (11 goals, 4 assists) and Omar Markouz (6 goals, 2 assists). Yuma is tied for the OUA lead in game-winning goals with three followed closely by Carleton’s Scott Mazzotta.
The Carleton Ravens (5-1) head to Concordia University (2-4) to tangle with the Stingers in the RSEQ quarter-finals. The Ravens are riding high having one five straight, but know the games only get harder from here on out. Having finished second in the RSEQ B division the Ravens will take on a Stingers team who finished third in the A Division. The Stingers have lost three straight but showed considerable improvement in their last match-up staying within 12 points of the uOttawa Gee-Gees last weekend at Concordia Stadium.
Catch all the playoff action starting at 7:00 p.m. live on Stingers TV.
Less than 48-hours after the highly anticipated Friday night match-up the Ravens will travel to York for another key OUA East matchup with the Lions. York is an aggressive offensive team who leads the OUA in shots with 107 and goals with 26, while the Ravens 25 follows closely behind. The two teams are also among the OUA leaders in goals against having surrendered only 4 each.
