Oshawa, Ont. – Starting day two of the OUA Regional Qualifiers in third place the Carleton Ravens came to play on Monday morning. The team tied with Queen’s for a day two best-combined score of 299. The Ravens’ electric day helped them hold firm with a third-place finish. With the top-four finish, the team also qualifies for the OUA Championship Tournament.
The Ravens’ two-day score of 602 saw the team finish only strokes behind the winners from uOttawa (599) and Queen’s (601).
The Ravens were led in the tournament by second-year business major Kyle Warton (Sutton, Ont.). Warton’s day two -1 (71) was tied with Michael Von Schalburg of Queen’s for tournament-low, leaving them both one stroke back of uOttawa’s Nick Workun – who managed back-to-back even-par 72s – for first overall. Warton’s -3 (33) on the back nine kept the Ravens inches behind the Gaels.
Also finishing in the top 10 was Josh Goheen (Ottawa, Ont.). Goheen finished +5 (149) in a tie for seventh. All five Ravens in the field finished in the top 20 with strong showings from Daniel Ryan +9 (153), Ty Rouse +11 (155) and Dylan Rouse +16 (160).
The Ravens now prepare for the OUA Championship on October 15 at Cherry Downs Golf Club. The one-day championship tournament will feature the top four teams from each region and the top 5 individual qualifiers from each tournament.
