TORONTO – If there was one word to describe the second game between Carleton University and York University, it would be: adjustments. After a scrappy and competitive first game that saw the Ravens get pushed to the brink and not be able to dominate their opponents like they usually do, they come back and effortlessly beat the York Lions 87-48.BOX SCORE
Statistically, the Ravens outrebounded their opponent 71 to 29. Offensively, the Ravens were able to pick apart the same zone defense that gave them trouble the day before with 18 points coming from three-pointers while also utilizing the pick and roll with immense efficiency. Defensively, they gave York no room to breathe and caused many turnovers to control the momentum of the game.
Coach Taffe Charles credits the adjustments that were made in order to play a much better game than the first one. “Every team plays a different system and we just had to learn from the mistakes of the first game in order to make the necessary improvements so that’s what we did. I’m happy with the way we came out today.”
The standouts for the Ravens include Lloyd Pandi (Ottawa, Ont.) who had a game-high 17 points which include two three-pointers, and Connor Vreeken (Kingston, Ont.) who had 16 points. When asked about star player Lloyd Pandi, coach Charles states, “he has a lot of experience and is a great leader and it shows every time he steps on the court.”
Carleton ends off the year with a perfect record of 6-0 and returns to action on January 2nd where they take on city rivals and the nationally ranked Gee-Gees at the University of Ottawa.
